Adopt a Husky (long coat)

A stunningly handsome purebred husky, Frosty is in search of a home where his affectionate, goofy nature can shine while his anxieties continue to fade away.

For the first five years of his life, Frosty was subjected to regular rough handling to the point of pain and injury. This mistreatment has left emotional scars on our sensitive boy. As a result, he is sensitive to pressure on his neck, making handling and leash walking difficult. Trips to the vet are terrifying to Frosty.

In spite of all he’s been through, Frosty still loves humans and seeks out affection.

Now things are looking up for Frosty. We’ve promised him a life free of pain. We’ve promised him that we will help him regain his trust in humans. It turns out that Frosty is a clicker training rock star! Force-free, positive reinforcement training is just what he needed and is helping him gain confidence and trust.

Given what Frosty has been through, we will be very selective in finding just the right adopter for our boy. We want to be as sure as we can that he will go to a home that is willing to help him along his journey.

Frosty loves other dogs.  We have no information on how Frosty would do with cats. We can arrange a cat test for the right applicant. We would like to be certain that Frosty’s forever humans are dedicated to working with him using only force-free positive reinforcement training techniques. Frosty’s forever family should also have a securely fenced yard (minimum height 6 feet, taller for chain link) and no small/young children (he loves people of all ages but, because of his handling sensitivities, we feel he would be unsafe living with young children who may not remember not to grab his collar).

This sweet boy is 5 years old and weighs 50 pounds.  Prior Husky experience is always a plus.
